DigiD stands for Digital Identity. You need a DigiD to log in to government websites (such as the Tax Administration or the UWV).

Never give your DigiD to others. It is personal and secure.

🇳🇱 2. Identificatieplicht

In Nederland moet iedereen van 14 jaar en ouder altijd een geldig identiteitsbewijs (ID) bij zich hebben.

Vanaf 12 jaar is een ID ook verplicht in de zorg (bij de dokter of in het ziekenhuis).

Als u 14 jaar of ouder bent en u kunt geen ID laten zien aan de politie, kunt u een boete krijgen.

🇬🇧 2. Duty to Identify

In the Netherlands, everyone aged 14 and older must always carry a valid proof of identity (ID).

From age 12, an ID is also mandatory in healthcare (at the doctor or in the hospital).

If you are 14 or older and cannot show an ID to the police, you can be fined (boete).

Als er iets verandert in uw leven, moet u dit doorgeven aan de gemeente.

Bijvoorbeeld als u gaat verhuizen, gaat trouwen, of gaat scheiden.

Sommige wijzigingen (zoals samenwonen) moet u ook doorgeven aan de Belastingdienst, omdat uw toeslagen dan kunnen veranderen.

If something changes in your life, you must report this to the municipality (gemeente).

For example, if you are moving (verhuizen), getting married (trouwen), or getting divorced (scheiden).

Some changes (such as cohabitation) must also be reported to the Tax Administration (Belastingdienst), as your allowances (toeslagen) may then change.

Bij de politie doet u aangifte als er iets is gestolen (bijv. uw bankpas).

Er zijn verschillende instanties die u helpen met geld en werk:

Belastingdienst: Hier vraagt u toeslagen aan (zoals huurtoeslag of zorgtoeslag).
UWV: Helpt u bij het vinden van werk en betaalt de WW-uitkering als u werkloos wordt.

GGD (Municipal Health Service): Responsible for public health, such as vaccinations or an STI test (SOA-test).
IND (Immigration and Naturalization Service): Responsible for your residence permit and naturalization matters.
